Hurrah! I tried for four years to organize a cooking holiday in Puglia, but I already do a lot and having a travel agency is serious business. Moreover, that’s NOT my job so I was very happy when one of my clients who has several travel agencies here in the Netherlands asked me if I wanted to organize a cooking holiday! I had already found the place before and I also had the general program figured out. Thanks to Style in Travel, run by real travel professionals, my cooking holiday in Puglia was soon organized! Thank you Otto-Mark and Monique for your trust in me and your organizational ability!
So we created a fantastic program that will be repeated 3x this year and next year 6x! By 2017 all vacations were sold out within a few days and the first one has already happened.
I was a little nervous because I had eaten at this B&B before but I never cooked there. I went there for lunch or dinner several times: with the whole family for my niece’s first communion, for Easter two years ago and a few more times. The food was always delicious but yes, working in a new kitchen with a group is something completely different and always a bit of a gamble. Now I can say that the gamble was a winning one! The first cooking holiday has been a great success thanks to the people of Style in Travel, the B&B in Conversano, and especially thanks to the fantastic people who cooked and discovered Puglia with me! (and yes, of course, a bit thanks to me too) 🙂
Here you can see photos that were partly made by my guests and partly by myself.
We went to the caves of Castellana, to the magical town of Alberobello, to an organic mozzarella farm, an organic winery and an organic olive oil farm (yes, I’m a total organic farming supporter!). And also to Ostuni, the white city, and Conversano, where our B&B is located. What an adventure! I grew up in Puglia but I hadn’t played “little tourist in my own region” for a long time, and I enjoyed that a lot!
And of course we cooked some fantastic stuff! We had three cooking classes where my fantastic “students” prepared the most amazing Apulian dishes.
Here you can find some pictures to get an idea of the place, the lessons, the food and the excursions. Enjoy.
And who knows until next year in Puglia. The 2018 program will be announced shortly.
P.S.: thanks Gerard, Helma & Vincent for the photos!
